Black Holes: At the Edge of Space and Time

Graham Marett, Chairman of the South West Hertfordshire Astronomical Society, gave a superb talk on Black Holes. He took us from White Dwarves through Neutron Stars to the ultimate Black Holes. He explained their formation, incorporating Quantum Theory, General Relativity and Special Relativity, and we all understood it.

It was gratifying to know that Einstein originally fudged his equations because he didn't believe the results. However he realised that the equations were correct, and so we now know that black holes do in fact exist.
